03 Jul JEN WRITES ABOUT HER DETOX SPA RITUAL WITH LAVA LOVE!
Life happens. And eventually all of my good intentions of eating right, exercising regularly and being present for my family give way to double café lattes, work deadlines and overscheduling.
These old habits leave me feeling out of balance. That’s when it’s time to escape and revitalize, rejuvenate and restore my body and mind. What I’ve learned is this: You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to go to Canyon Ranch. In fact, I get restored to balance quicker (and much less expensively) simply by relying on a weekend spa ritual I’ve adopted.
You can go by yourself, with your husband or with friends. All you need are the following:
1. Fresh fruit
4. A nearby hot spring, a local lake or river, or even a local hot tub center!
5. Lots of fresh, filtered water.
I am partial to Summer Lake Hot Springs in Central Oregon because it’s just a couple of hours from my home, and I’m almost always the only one in the hot springs. The springs are all natural so there are no chemicals in the water, which feels like liquid gold, and the cabins are thermo-heated which creates a perfect interior temperature. I also like Belknap Hot Springs because the beautiful McKenzie River runs right through the little resort.
One you find the right spot, start with a nice hot shower, using the lava soap. The pumice will exfoliate all the dead skin off your body. Next, mix up the face mask and apply it to face and body. I do my whole body. I leave it on for 20 minutes until it dries. The bentonite, zeolite and charcoal will pull toxins from your body. Drink lots of water. Eat some fruit. Rinse. Then dip into the hot springs and stay there for as long as you want. Drink lots more water, and then get lots of sleep.
We don’t need lots of fancy potions or lotions or treatments, we just need the healing lava and the healing waters from Mother Earth for the best detoxifying spa ritual I have ever experienced! What’s your favorite rejuvenation spot near you? It might even be your own bathroom!
